The Ocean Aid Team is proud to announce an amazing line up of talent for the First Annual Ocean Aid Music Festival, coming to you April 30th at the Waikiki Shell in Honolulu! It’s time to rock Oahu for the cause with performances by CeeLo Green, William “Bootsy” Collins with Prince’s Band, Grandmaster Flash, Maxi Priest, Fishbone, Ohio Players, Henry Kapono, the Samoan Dynasty wrestling family with Jr Rikishi Fatu, DJ Lethal and more to be announced soon. Ocean Aid is brought to you by Pacific Wide Productions and Love The Sea, a locally based non profit organization that supports a network of ocean stewards, working towards the eradication of plastic pollution in the world’s oceans achieved through effective direct action, innovative educational outreach and strategic policy making campaigns. Our coalition includes The Surfrider Foundation, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii, Hawaii Wildlife Fund and Sea Cleaners NZ, whose members will be representing in our eco-village to raise awareness about the plastic pollution issues plaguing our local and global environment and wildlife.
Ocean Aid co-creators Ava Berman and Big Daddy Carlos, who is also the executive producer of the April 30th concert event and CEO of Love the Sea, released the following statement. “By 2050 scientists estimate there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Currently 5.25 trillion pieces of trash and plastic destroy our oceans. The reason for forming Love the Sea is to educate and where necessary legislate, so that we can keep our oceans alive and love the sea, plastic-free. When an endangered sea turtle that should live for 100 years, dies painfully over the course of two weeks because of ingesting plastics, this is unforgiveable. We need to act to save our fish, birds, turtles, and other endangered species including whales and seals. The time for change in our oceans is now.” We hope you will join us for this world class event that will also feature an impressive panel of guest speakers, environmental artwork, ocean-minded local retailers and a wide variety of sustainable food vendors. Please stay tuned for additional info and ticket sale locations!
